New on-premises and cloud platform support and versatile recovery options
Modern IT environments span multiple hypervisors and cloud platforms. APM 2.0 extends protection to Proxmox VE, Nutanix AHV, Google Workspace, Amazon EC2, and Azure VM, enabling organizations to secure diverse workloads while managing and monitoring them from a single, unified platform.
APM 2.0 also enables flexible recovery. Restore backups to cloud, virtual, or physical environments—including Azure VM, Amazon EC2, Proxmox VE, Hyper-V, VMware, and more—to accelerate recovery, simplify workload migration, and maintain business continuity without being tied to a single platform.
AI-powered proactive cyber resilience
ActiveProtect strengthens cyber resilience with AI/ML-powered anomaly detection and pre-recovery malware scans.1
With AI/ML anomaly detection, ActiveProtect analyzes your backups for anomalies and immediately highlights anything that looks out of the ordinary. With pre-recovery malware scans, third-party antivirus solutions such as Microsoft Defender, Bitdefender, or ESET can be integrated to scan backup data for malware before recovery.
When anomalies or threats are detected, ActiveProtect can also alert your SIEM/SOAR platform directly — via syslog forwarding, SMTP notifications, or SNMP traps — so your security team stays in the loop without having to check ActiveProtect separately. This ensures that organizations only restore clean, trustworthy data.
Enterprise-grade protection
ActiveProtect provides optional storage encryption for data security by protecting sensitive information from unauthorized access and potential data exposure in the event of device theft. By encrypting data at the volume level and securely storing encryption keys on the local device, ActiveProtect helps organizations maintain data confidentiality and meet compliance requirements.
Not every team member needs the same level of access. With role-based permissions, you can limit most users to backup, restore, or view-only actions, while granting select users full console and resource monitoring access — keeping control tight without slowing anyone down.
New remote storage options
In addition to remote storage options such as Amazon S3, Wasabi Cloud Storage, C2 Object Storage, and specific Synology NAS models, ActiveProtect will now support Azure Blob Storage as well as additional Synology NAS models such as the FS Series, ’22-’25 Series and more, as an option for storing backup copies or tiered data for long-term data retention purposes and regulatory compliance.
