Strengthen enterprise cyber resilience with ActiveProtect Manager 1.1

With cyberattacks on the rise, companies must implement a cyber-resilient data protection solution capable of deterring threat actors. This solution should include a multi-layered security system so businesses can maintain operations with peace of mind. However, this is not an easy task, as companies increasingly use various on-prem and cloud workloads across the board, juggle multiple data protection solutions, and may not have a strong security posture.

This is where ActiveProtect comes into play. As an integrated backup appliance, Synology ActiveProtect comes with its own pre-configured hardware and operating system called ActiveProtect Manager so that companies can unify their data protection, perform backups and recover data quickly, and secure their data with advanced security features such as immutable backups, offline backups, access controls, and more.

Synology ActiveProtect is a resilient and flexible data protection solution that allows businesses to boost their cybersecurity, minimize downtime, and recover data within minutes.

With the release of ActiveProtect Manager (APM) 1.1, Synology ActiveProtect will support new workloads, enhance data security, multi-geo support to meet local data residency laws, as well as support for new cloud and on-prem storage for long-term data retention.

Fast, optimized backup and recovery speeds

With a 250% increase in throughput, your backups are safely secured with the least time possible, while recovery times are reduced to meet RPO and RTO requirements so that businesses can retrieve data as soon as possible to maintain business operations.

Autonomous orchestration to protect backups

Schedule your backups and automatically protect all your data without leaving any gaps in your data protection. Receive scheduled data reports via email hourly or daily to monitor your backups and restore activity to meet SLA compliance.

Create an isolated backup vault and implement access controls

Leverage air-gapped backups to store clean copies of your backups with logical or physical isolation. Once backups are complete, the server will automatically shut off and enter isolation mode, ensuring no gaps after backup operations are complete. Use role-based access controls to delegate employee permissions for backups, restorations, and viewing rights.

Choose where your data resides

Implement a policy-based strategy to dictate where your data resides as a way to meet local data residency policies and regulatory compliance. Leverage multi-site, multi-geo backups to store encrypted copies of enterprise data regionally and use ActiveProtect to unify your backup appliances.

Meet long-term retention requirements

ActiveProtect Manager now supports tiering capabilities so that users can set tiering plans to move out their data automatically to a wide variety of on-prem and cloud remote storage options as a way to scale their backup infrastructure and store data to meet compliance requirements. In addition to the previously supported SA and HD Series and Amazon S3, APM 1.1 comes with new support for select XS and XS+ devices and Wasabi.
